I was sort of thinking that last Monday night's Preserve Swap, hosted by Joel and Dana of Well Preserved, would be a chance to clear some shelf space. However, as you can see, I came home with as many jars as I took away.
But how could I turn these down? They are (in front, smallest jars): Fig
Jam and Pear Lavender Preserve by Daniela. In the middle row (medium
jars), you see Well Preserved's Pickled Asparagus Tips, The Avro's delicious Nectarine Ginger Jam, Seville Orange Marmalade with Brown Sugar and Vanilla by Christine Manning,
Peach Vanilla Rosemary Jam, Crabapple Syrup, and Banana Butter.
The
largest jars, in the back row, are Bread and Butter Pickles by
pastrychef and now chocolatière extraordinaire Dawn Nita,
Dilled Zucchini Sticks, Tomato Sauce by Kelly and Aaron Moore, gorgeous
looking Pear Mincemeat by jam goddess Lorraine Deming of Sausage Partners, and Italian Vegetable Pickle from chef Christian. I forgot to include the lovely sun-dried tomatoes from the Moores.
I see that, in the dark, I did a very bad job of keeping track of whose jars were whose. I'd love to know (via comments or Twitter) who put up those amazing uncredited preserves.
Held at The Avro on Queen Street East, the event was the second in Well Preserved's regular "Home Ec" series, normally held on the last Monday of the month. Although I missed the first one (Bar Snacks), Joel and Dana were kind enough to indulge my wish to collect the January achievement button. (I did bring a bar snack to this one.) Well Preserved's Home Ec #3 (Food on Sticks) is coming up on Monday, March 26. I'm wondering whether it would be practical to skewer devilled eggs.
