Not Far From The Tree Ends the Season with a Party

That apple-picking, fruit-preserving bunch of urban orchardists over at Not Far From The Tree are holding a party to celebrate the end of the fruit harvesting season this Thursday, November 5 at The Community Gallery at the Wychwood Barns (601 Christie Street – enter via Wychwood and Benson).

NFFTT works to harvest urban trees. This year they gathered just under 8,000 pounds of cherries, serviceberries, mulberries, apricots, plums, crabapples, pears, sumac, elderberries, apples and black walnuts, much of which was made available to good community causes. True to form, they'll be pressing apple cider and serving local hors d'oeuvres made by the roving foodsters of The Local Cafe.

There'll also be door prizes and music from DJ Wes Allen – not to mention local beers, wines and elderberry cocktails created designed by Sharon Bergey of Jamie Kennedy Kitchens.

Tickets are $10 and go to support the 2010 NFFTT season. The party starts at 7 p.m., and the dress code is "fun and fruity". Order tickets online.
