On Saturday, September 26 at 6 p.m., Black Creek Pioneer Village (1000 Murray Ross Parkway, just east of Jane and south of Steeles) holds a 100 Mile Harvest Celebration, a three-course meal that features locally grown ingredients and Ontario craft beers. The menu includes roasted tomato and fennel soup, seared pork chops with apple chutney, seasonal vegetables and roasted potatoes. For dessert, there's spiced pumpkin pie with fresh whipped cream.
Guests will also have a chance to tour the newly opened Black Creek Historic Brewery, which is set up as it would have been in the mid-1800s, and brews four regular beers plus seasonal extras, available in growlers. Tickets for the dinner are $75 ($67 for members), plus tax and tip. Reservations are required; call 416-667-6295.
The brewery hosts numerious other public events, including tours twice daily, as well as "Field to Firkin" beer tasting events every Friday at 6:30 p.m. until the end of September ($15; $13 for members plus tax and tip). There are also regular special events:
- September 10, 6:30 p.m.: Tutored Tastings of Classic Beer Styles ($25/$22+tax & tip)
- September 12, 6:30 p.m.: A Night at the Brewery (a full three-course historical meal of the 1860s with beer pairings, $75/$67+tax & tip)
- October 8, 6:30 p.m.: Say Cheese! And Cheers! (beer and artisanal cheese tasting with Julia Rogers, $25/$22+tax and tip)
- November 12, 6:30 p.m.: Tutored Tastings of Classic Beer Styles (as above)
- November 21, 6:30 p.m.: A Night at the Brewery (as above)
